Alan Longmuir was born 20 June 1948 in Edinburgh, Scotland

A member of a musical family, he formed his first band at the age of 17, with his brother Derek.

In 1976, at the height of the band's popularity, Alan Longmuir left the Bay City Rollers to pursue other interests.

In 1977, Longmuir released I'm Confessing, which peaked at number 44 in Australia,  He also starred in the film Burning Rubber in 1981.

He returned to the group in 1978 performing as a four piece and then later with the newly named band The Rollers.

He sadly died on 2 July 2018 at the age of 70.
